The story behind the name…
The name Boat Harbour Abode is an homage to the history of this beautiful area.
Back in the day, Bateau Bay used to be known as “Boat Harbour”. Back then it was a quiet little fishing village where they pulled the boats up on the shore.
As the coast grew, a summer camp was set up on the beach. These shacks were frequented by holiday makers for many years. A popular family getaway from bustling Sydney.
In the 70’s, the suburb was renamed Bateau Bay as it had a more illustrious ring to the name. It was a bit of a real estate PR stunt to elevate the area from what other locals have mentioned.
